Claudia Samper was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She holds an Advanced Degree in Architecture from the University of Buenos Aires and also studied graphic design, photography, and ceramics. After being involved in the design field for many years her interest went beyond that into fine arts focusing on oil and acrylic painting.
Samper's goal is to create a space to encourage a dialogue between the viewer and her work. She looks for this interaction, to be able to trigger a feeling, a thought or a wonder. Kindness, joy, ambiguities, hopes, disappointments, perceptions, are all embedded in her paintings. Colors, textures, lines, shapes, and composition all work together to express what one could find inside one’s mind, the definite as well as the uncertain.
Samper has participated in many juried group and solo shows around the Washington Greater area and the United States. Her pieces can be found in collections in Spain, Argentina, and the United States.
